Indian Wedding Tradition | Sangeet | Yash & Anju’s Punjabi Wedding | Part I

The Sangeet

In Indian wedding tradition the Sangeet is where the week of wedding festivities begin! This event is hosted by the bride’s family, inviting special members of the groom’s family, in celebration of the two families union.  The females from both sides of the families come together and sing traditional wedding songs in rejoice of the couple’s marriage. At one time the Sangeet was reserved for just the women, but in modern times men are now joining in on the festivities.

The Sangeet is a great time of singing, dancing, and joking, and is a opportunity for the two families to get to know each other before the wedding.

Anju’s Sangeet was a BLAST, and a great start to a fantastic week of wedding celebration!

Stay tuned for more of Yash and Anju’s wedding celebration week!
